Use magic to master your mind and power up your confidence

August 24, 2022

Snowflakes glided down from the dark early morning sky like angels dancing down from the heavens. I tried prying open my eyes, but my eyelids were shielded shut by the tossing and turning all night.

I finally got my goggles working and remembered the dragon I was about to face. I yanked off my PJs and groped my closet in the dark for my lucky undies. I had a pair of special boxers always ready to go for the contest day. An army of skulls stared back at me, and I took my cue to harness their magical energy that would lead me to victory.

Why boxers with skull’s you ask? Because of the attitude. They mean business. Time to slay dragons.

Breakfast in, stretch out, pack the bag. Snowboard boots, gloves, goggles, extra goggles, jacket, pants on, board in tow, beanie in deep. Let’s do this.

To be successful, you need magic. You need the magic of believing in yourself. Because we all are more or less insecure about our crazy impossible dreams we don’t dare to tell anyone about. That’s why you need a dab of magic glitter to paint the canvas of your life.

I scraped the ice and snow off the car windshield, hopped in on the passenger seat, dad on my side and punched the seat warmer on.

15 minutes later, we were facing the white wall of perfectly groomed tracks and the half-pipe sitting in mint condition, ready to serve as the arena for the modern-day gladiators. I grabbed my gear from the trunk while my dad set himself up to kick my behind for good luck.

Magic upon magic.

I didn’t just have all my gear with me, I had my magic with me. The intangible, the unseeable, the king of kings, the queen of queens was standing on my shoulders, guiding my every move through the stream of atoms onto the podium. Or rather covering up my ass.

Breathing in the freezing winter air, hearing the snow crunching underneath my boots, I walked up the hill to the half-pipe to warm up. I was ready to face my maker. To skate up and above the walls and fly in style while slaying the dreams of my worst competitors.

Only one can win, and when it comes to contests, it’s not the one with the most skills. It’s the one who’s carrying the magic that empowers you to punch through the heavy burden of pressure weighing down on your shoulders and holding you back from ever leaving the ground. The pressure from yourself, from your parents, from your competitors, from your past and from your future can be unbearable. Unless you learn to harness magic. You need to cock up your own personal mental magic potion in your brain that gives you access to your superpowers. Only then can you be fully free to fly and perform at your full potential.

I racketed the bindings tight around my boots, hit my fists against my thighs three times and whispered to myself “Fuck yeah Jussi”. I dropped into the half pipe. Game on.

What’s the one-two-three recipe that makes you feel powerful and ready to absolutely slay the day? Because the end of the day it’s all about the chemical cocktail of hormones running through your brain that creates the feeling of confidence in your own abilities.

Now go get your magic boxers Brad and let’s do this.
